Deep professional grounding

Ecoxys discipline leader for emission measurements has worked on issues related to emission outputs from both vehicle engines and marine diesel engines for over 25 years. For two decades at the Marine Technical Center in Trondheim (NTH/NTNU and Marintek), projects funded by marine diesel manufacturers, StatoilHydro, the Research Council of Norway, shipping associations, and environmental authorities were carried out.

Methodology for NOx calculation

Ecoxy assists shipping companies and operators in establishing the correct calculation basis for NOx emissions:

Actual vs. ISO 8178 load profile: Ecoxy assesses whether it is more accurate to use the actual operating profile instead of the standard ISO profile to calculate the NOx factor.

Measurement at four load points: 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25% load for main engines. Simplified requirements at 50% for auxiliary engines.

Source-specific emission factors: Establishment of emission factors for each individual emission point for increased precision in NOx reporting.
