Over 20 years of expertise in accredited exhaust measurements of emissions to air. Independent accredited third party for maritime, offshore, and industrial processes.
Ecoxy performs accredited exhaust measurements on diesel engines, gas engines, gas turbines, and boilers. We are approved by Norwegian Accreditation and have provided services to shipping companies, oil companies, and industrial actors since 2007.
Our field engineers have conducted measurements of more than 700 engines on board over 400 vessels and possess the expertise required to deliver precise and legally valid measurement reports.
We cover all relevant components of exhaust from combustion processes
Measured with chemiluminescence (CLA). Requirements from the NOx fund, the Activity Regulation §70b/§70c, and the IMO NOx Technical Code. The most important component for Norwegian vessels and platforms.
IMO NOx TC · ISO 8178-2:2021Measured with non-dispersive infrared (NDIR). CO₂ is central for EU ETS reporting. CO documents combustion efficiency and compliance with emission limits.
NDIRSulfur dioxide and methane. Important for ships operating in SECA zones and platforms with gas treatment. Documents compliance with MARPOL Annex VI and EU requirements.
NDIR · UV spectroscopyParticle measurement and ammonia. Particles are relevant for the NOx fund and local emission requirements. NH₃ is used in SCR systems to document ammonia slip and efficiency.
Gravimetry · Chemical analysisUnburned hydrocarbons (THC) and oxygen. HC measurement using the HFID method. O₂ is used for calculating dry reference gas and correcting other concentrations.
HFID · PMAEcoxy offers measurement of all relevant gas components in a single campaign. This streamlines mobilization and provides the customer with complete documentation in one report.
NOx · CO · CO₂ · SO₂ · CH₄ · NH₃ · PMWe perform measurements according to all relevant national and international standards
ISO 8178-2:2021 and IMO NOx Technical Code for ships. ISO 11042-1:1996 for gas turbines. Applicable to all types of vessels and offshore installations.
NS-EN 12619, NS-EN 14789, NS-EN 14792, NS-EN 15058, ISO/IEC 12039. District heating plants, combined heat and power plants, and industrial processes.
Activity Regulation §70b/§70c for NCS vessels. The NOx fund and the Pollution Regulation. Approved by the Maritime Directorate as a competent actor.
MARPOL Annex VI for marine SO₂ and NOx. EU ETS for CO₂ quota reporting. Support for Tier I, II, and III certification under IMO.
Ecoxy coordinates with vessels/facilities in advance to ensure that engines are in a stable operating condition and that necessary infrastructure is available for gas probe connection.
Measurements are performed at four load points (100%, 75%, 50%, 25%) for main engines and at 50% for auxiliary engines, according to ISO 8178 E3/D2/C1 cycles.
We use the Horiba PG-250 analyzer with heated sampling lines, electric cooler, and LabVIEW-based data collection – equipment that ensures precision and traceability.
After measurement, Ecoxy prepares an accredited report in accordance with applicable standards. The report is legally valid documentation for the NOx fund, the Maritime Directorate, and EU ETS authorities.
Tip: Ecoxy can combine exhaust measurement with EU ETS verification in one mobilization – this saves time and costs for the shipping company and operator.
